10 Ideas For The Perfect Summer

Summer feels a little different than ones in the past, but we all need a reason to celebrate. I've come up with 10 ideas anyone can do to make this summer special.

1. Picnic

Picnics are casual, but feel special. If you're eating take out pizza at your house you feel lazy, but at a park all of a sudden you're fancy. So plant yourself under a shady tree and enjoy.

2. Explore A State Or County Park
Getting out on trails is such a good way to spend time with friends or family. Bring lots of water and get your heart pumping. Remember holidays and weekends can be crowded so get there early to get good parking or head over on a weekday!

3. Fruit Picking

Find a local U-pick farm and pick the in season fruit. This is a perfect activity all summer long.

4. Go Biking
Cities have become more and more bike friendly over the years. Get on your workout gear and take a scenic bike ride!

5. Try Out A Fun Recipe
With time on your hands try out a recipe you've been putting off.

6. Tackle A DIY Project
Believe me when I say you don't need experience to make some beautiful DIY's. My husband and I started out trying projects from YouTube/Pinterest tutorials. We graduated to making our own plans and you can do it too.

Find an idea, head to a hobby store, and don't look back!

7. Watch The Sunset

This is a great idea any time of year, but those warm summer nights make the sunset magical. Bonus points for watching it set over a body of water.

8. Speaking Of Water. Hit Up Your Favorite Watering Hole.
For many of us, pools are closed. Get creative and head to a lake, river, or even the ocean and beat the heat with a splash. Take some fishing poles and you could even catch your dinner.

9. Take A Scenic Drive

We're always trying to get somewhere fast. Take some time to slow down and enjoy the journey. Plan to stop at a pullout you may be surprised what you've been missing.

10. Go On A Scavenger Hunt
This is such a good way to get out exploring and there are so many different options. Look out for local plants, animals, statues, buildings, etc. It doesn't matter if you make your own or find one online. Either way you'll have a chance to see your local area with fresh eyes.
