8 Stunning Picnic Spots In The Bay Area

International picnic day was this past week! In celebration I've compiled a list of my favorite Bay area scenic locations that are asking for a picnic!

Cannery Row

It's no secret that I think Monterey is hands down the best city in the Bay area. It is such a classy area and the beaches are beautiful! This gorgeous spot is right off of cannery row in front of Ghirardelli! We ate on the balcony, but it would be so dreamy to grab one of the many food options from cannery row and set up right in the sand!

Natural Bridges State Beach

The sunsets here are life changing! After your picnic this spot has tide pools and a path where you can see Monarchs during their migrating season.

Ed R. Levin County Park

Head up by the Mountains and watch the Great Blue Heron fly over the lake while you munch on some grapes. Watch out for the ducks they are very friendly and are interested in sharing your food!

Big Basin Redwoods State Park

Located in the Santa Cruz Mountains, this redwood forest is a sight worth seeing! There are so many spots to spread out and enjoy the lush majesty of the redwood trees!

Queen Wilhelmina Tulip Garden

You can't leave out San Francisco when you're talking about the Bay area! This garden in Golden Gate Park was made for a fairy tale picnic!

Salesforce Park

A park in the sky! A picnic in between some amazing skyscrapers is bucket list worthy! The gardens are expansive and change theme as you walk along the path! It even includes a water feature that is triggered by the transit system below!

Villa Montalvo

This is an incredible Garden Estate with hiking trails. And it's free to visit. You could picnic on the front lawn in front of the villa or find a more secluded hideaway. Either way you will not be disappointed.

Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge

This refuge is perfect if you want to get up close and personal with wildlife! Gulls will fly overhead, pelicans will nest on the small islands, a fox will hide in the bushes, ducks and geese will waddle around, and butteflies will rest on a flower all for you to admire while sipping on something sweet.

Honestly there are so many good spots to picnic in the Bay area. Find an open space, set, up a blanket, and enjoy! Stay tuned for my next post on how to style the picnic of your dreams.
